Will my college rescind me for 1 D?

Made a previous post about the situation. I was accepted at all 3 colleges I applied to but have committed to Bradley University as a business major.

I currently have a D in my Civics class which is required for high school graduation. I ended last quarter with a D+ and have a test tomorrow which is the first grade of the new quarter...I'm screwed. I studied all weekend but nothing makes sense. I originally wanted to pull my grade up to a C but that's not going to happen. I'm really going to have to struggle just to keep a D.

I don't know what to do...will Bradley rescind me for one D? They've also offered me a super competitive scholarship (half my tuition is covered), if I lose the scholarship I won't be able to afford going there, even with FAFSA assistance.

If it makes any difference, the rest of my senior transcript is straight A's and I can't recall having gotten any grade lower than a B- throughout all of high school.

Please be honest and don't sugarcoat. Thx

I honestly don't think one D will make that much of a difference- as long as you pass the class is the important thing. If you've already been admitted to the freshman class of your University, you probably won't be expelled, HOWEVER, depending on how this grade affects your GPA, you may lose the scholarship. It's unlikely for that to happen unless your GPA falls below the minimum threshold for qualifying for this financial aid (I'm assuming it's merit-based). If you've been getting A's and B's for most of your high school career, it's probably not much to worry about.

Hi @smoothiemaker22!

I don't think one D will be enough to cause a rescinded admission. It's a very rare decision that should come with some notice, and colleges only do it when an applicant's grades drop significantly across the board (usually due to neglect).

However, I'm not sure about your scholarship. I would look at the specific terms and see if there are any stipulations regarding GPA maintenance that would authorize them to revoke the scholarship. If they didn't send you any terms or information when you were accepted, I would contact the financial aid office to be sure.

Good luck! And let me know if you have any questions.
