I'm taking Spanish in high school, but I want to take Mandarin in college. Is it ok to take Mandarin 1 in college without any prior knowledge?

Greetings, Colej.

Of course you can learn a new language in college without any prior knowledge! Learning a new language can get you new job oppurtunities, it increases your cultural awareness, it expands your view of the world, it allows you to use your brain, and so much more! Now, be aware that some colleges might prefer for you to stick with spanish, since you're taking spanish in high school, but chances are they'll allow you to switch languages.

Good luck!

I think this should be ok, as long as you're not planning in majoring in anything related to Mandarin or Chinese studies. But know that sticking with Spanish is a lot more appealing to colleges. Good luck with applying! :)
