MIT Class of 2026 Acceptance Rate drops to 3.96% from 4.1%

On Pi Day 3.14.22, MIT completed its Class of 2026 admissions cycle admitting 1337 applicants out of total EA/RD pool of 33796 applications.

Class of 2025 vs Class of 2026

First-year applications: 33,240 vs 33,796

First-year admits: 1,365 vs 1,337

Percentage admitted: 4.1% vs 3.96%

In line with my expectations, Top College admissions rates look more competitive than last year as more students are applying to select group of schools. Some of you that follow what I've written in the past, know that I think more and more wealthy applicants are applying to Ivys and Elite colleges making them more competitive for everyone else because they come from highly funded private schools with lots of resources.
