I'm currently a sophomore going to junior next year and I still can't decide what courses to take. I don't have a clear idea of what I want to major in college but I'm thinking about going to the medical field or engineering.
I'd like to go to a pretty competitive college but I hadn't taken any ap courses and I didn't take any honors or ap courses during freshman year. However, I am taking 3 honor classes right now and I'm mostly getting As. Could you give me a recommendation on what kind of classes I should take during my junior year? I feel like I should definitely take at least one AP course next year and at least two honor courses. I also have 3.9 GPA if that helps you answer my question better.
also try to take an elective course related to what your interested in majoring in, it shows colleges continuity if you end up studying it and helps you decide whether it’s really an area you want to go into.
thank you! I looked into the courses offered at my high school and unfortunately, they don't offer AP environmental science. But they do offer normal environmental science. Should I take environmental science even though it isn't AP? Or should I do a different AP course (If so, which courses)? Also, how many hours of work do you put in for each subject every day?
Hello! I am a junior right now taking AP US History and AP English Language and Composition. If you have any interest in history, I definitely recommend AP US History. It is known to be a hard class but it seems to me you are a good student and would definitely succeed. Personally, I think AP English is very important and essential as it helps you develop strong writing skills that can eventually be put to use in your college essays. I have not taken any AP science math classes but if you have any interest in either of those subjects, take them! Colleges are looking for passion so pick a subject that interests you and take a challenging course in that subject.
Hello! I recommend you choose classes that correspond to your spheres of interest. But I recommend you to take one in writing. Writing is one of the most important skills for a student, and it's a great idea to develop it. I've been taking a creative writing course and one in literature, and I love them. But I like reading, writing, creating something, and maybe that's why I'm so interested. And I'm happy that I took a literature course because we analyzed different poems, read some extra info, and during preparation, I always learned something new. For example, this source https://freebooksummary.com/internal-and-external-conflict-in-hamlet-29766 opened Hamlet from a different perspective. I've read it twice, but only after reading the summary I notice that there is internal and external conflict. So I recommend thinking about getting such a course once again because it's a great chance to develop your knowledge.
I would highly encourage you to consider AP Chemistry. Seeing as some schools may require a chemistry class in college to pursue a medical career, it could help reduce your workload in your early years of college. Following that, I suggest looking into some AP math classes or even early college which can be applied to both the medical and engineering fields.

hey! I’m a junior right now and I took AP US history and AP English this year, I’d definitely recommend taking AP history because it’s a pretty standard AP and it’s typically not super hard. But if you’re more more science and math focused i’d take an AP science like AP bio. My friend also took AP environmental science and loved it. For math i think the only AP class is AP calc, so i’d say just take the more advanced math course your school offers and take calc senior year. Hope this helps!
