Want to start a passion project but don't know how...
Answered

Hi, I am a 10th grader in Monterey. My goals are to go into pre-med and study either Neurobiology or Biology. I want to start looking into doing a passion project, but I don't know where to start or even how. Having a fascination with how the brain works, I hope to pursue a project involving that and something including music, books, sports (tennis), or photography. How should I go about starting one?

If you’re dual enrolled, you can approach one of your professors to ask if they’d be interested in helping you do a research project on a topic on how music/sports/ etc changes brain chemistry or something like that.

If not, you can always find a summer program that allows you to delve into a subject that you’re interested in (like Wakeforest summer immersion, Horizon Inspires, etc tho they cost $$$)

Or you could take an Edx/ Coursera course online in neuroscience and use the info you learn to start your own music thing. (For example, there are different frequencies that the brain responds to and you could use info that to make innovative music, idk??)

Well I suggest trying out getting your teachers to help spread word of an activity to see if anyone else is interested. If you have enough people you could go ahead and try to start a club that inputs your ideas and this could bean extracurricular for you plus you develop leadership skills in the process. you could create like a research group and make it fun :)
