My future high school offers a program whereby taking 4 Social Studies classes through 4 years (those being Human Geography AP, World History AP, US History AP, and Government/Economics AP), I can graduate High School and leave with an Associate's Degree from a Community College. Would this look better on admissions, or have major benefits? The adjustment would force major schedule changes that could probably swap places with my Fine Arts elective.
(I would still be applying as a new student and not a transfer)
The AA degree path looks good if you apply in-state to the colleges that will recognize the AA and give you college credit and advanced placement reducing your college graduation requirements.
Out of state, they are a toss of the coin because out of state colleges may not recognize such DE credits as equivalent to AP course rigor with AP scores of (5). You may get some credit as little as 6 credits (10% of the AA degree) or ZERO credit depending on where you apply to.
At top colleges like Ivys, Elites and Top Liberal arts colleges, it's still preferred that your course rigor is supported and evidenced by either APs or IBs and if you decide to take college courses, take them from highly reputable peer institutions so that your grades/credits earned will be easier to transfer into your new college.
Good luck.
