This is a huge surprise because in the past couple cycles Emory was struggling to be competitive with say Tulane, USC, WashU. Now they have dropped to the "uber"-competitive category of near-elite colleges with both schools under the 15% mark.
Last year Emory was 13% and Emory Oxford was 21.3%
This year Emory is 10.66% (3578/33559) and Emory Oxford is 14.38% (2932/20382)
The significant detail is that the spread between (E) and (E)OX was 8.3% last year and this year it's only 3.72% or less than 1/2 of what it was. If this is an indicator of future cycles it means that eventually the spread will be negligible like 2%, perhaps lower. At that point there will no practical reason to have 2 separate admission pools for Emory.
Why do you think that Emory has become more competitive this year?
I always thought they were a great college with strong academics but had yield problem in that smart kids applied but always thought of Emory as a target or safety for those who wanted to go to Vandy, Duke or an Ivy League college. Now I think they are filling more of their class with multiple ED1/ED2 rounds following the Tulane /NE/ model.
