Is attending Texas Boy's State prestigious for T20 schools?
Answered

I got nominated to go to Texas Boy's State which is a week long event in Austin focused on political and leadership skills.

I think it's a cool program, but I want to pursue something in the STEM field rather than politics or government. Is this still something that is viable in putting on my application for T20 schools?

Yes, Boys State (especially at the scale of Texas Boys State) has a ton of admissions value (NJ Boys State alum here). I don’t remember the exact admissions tier but you can find it in your profile when you add the tier for Boys State. It actually can help round out your STEM profile and show a nice leadership layer (adding a nice contrast to traditional STEM stereotypes).

While there, I recommend pursuing another leadership position like Boys Nation Senator (which is super prestigious). Have fun!
