Class Courses
Answered

Hello, I need some help. I'm a junior and I only took one dual credit class and no AP classes. Is it wise to schedule more of these classes.

You should take more AP classes to show you can do college equivalent work well and get good marks and test scores. DE credit is not always indicative of that. For example at my former HS, we had a DE program for languages. So I took French 1,2,3 at my HS and got DE credit for enrolling at my community college. It was the same curriculum taught at the CC and my HS. While it's a college course, it's an easy college course vs. say AP French which is French 5 I took at my HS. But French 5 was not offered by the CC as DE course because it was too hard for the community college audience. Does that make sense? No.

All competitive colleges want to some reassurance you can do the work and are well prepared to tackle the work. APs and IBs offer that sense of relief for AOs reviewing your application file. If you have 5+ APs, and got As in them and scored 4s and 5s on the AP exams, they know you are a serious student.

Good luck.
