Extracurricular activities

So I don't have that many extracurricular activities but I'm mostly in different honors societies and like 2 different clubs. would me not having that many extracurricular actives hinder me from getting accepted to a college? Also my school that I'm currently attending we don't have any sports we only have clubs since we are placed in a technical college(if this makes sense). I think its to late to find any extracurricular actives since I graduate next year

Any college? No.

A top college? Probably.

I clicked yes, but in all honesty, it depends on how selective a college is. For example, a very selective school such as Harvard will see a high SAT and ACT score as a standard, and being captain/president of 5 clubs isn't out of the ordinary.

Thank you! (Also, I am in 2 different clubs but I'm not the captain or president of anything I'm just there doing task and I also have completed 165 hours of community service) would this mean anything to colleges?

Community service is very good, but it needs to be meaningful. Just like clubs, don't let them be "fillers". For example, By the end of Junior year, I would have gotten 3000 hours of community service from one organization alone for 3 years regarding the education of underserved/underrepresented communities and I do it because I am extremely passionate about it.

yes, but if other areas look good it can be overlooked.

I agree with most people, for top schools I don't think these clubs/honors societies are that impressive, more like the norm, but at less/somewhat selective schools they look good and probably help you earn merit scholarships at these schools!

Well my school that I'm currently attending we don't have any sports we only have clubs since we are placed in a technical college(if this makes sense). I think its to late to find any extracurricular actives since I graduate next year, but thank you for the advice!

It's not too late necessarily. You can still do a few things depending on your interest. They may not be stellar ECs but it can definitely be something if you put emphasis that it's something you are passionate about. Someone from my school got into Stanford with just in-school clubs which they held multiple leadership roles in.

So I'm currently in the warm up America club(crocheting/kintting) & the Students In Actions club but I held no leadership positions because there weren't any opportunities for me to run for any positions

Hmm you should try extracurriculars maybe outside of school? Like a program or an internship, especially this summer! What field are you interested in, I may be able to find some for you.

Also, if you are in the knitting/crocheting club, make it something you are passionate about. The club at my school knitted a bunch of blankets, sweaters, and mittens for a local homeless shelter.

I want to go to school for nursing(pediatric nursing). Also, our mission for the knitting club was to make 9x7 square so that we can make a blanket but since everyone in the club never turned in any square we weren’t able to make blankets for the homeless shelters. I was the only one completing the squares.

Okay, so this is what I think you should do with your current situation now.

Many hospitals offer volunteering opportunities to high school students. You can check with a hospital nearby if they have a program like that. You can also shadow a nurse/doctor if a hospital you live close by offers it. You would have a better chance for being able to shadow a doctor/nurse if you have connections. So if your parents know someone in that field, maybe they can hook you up.

And for your knitting club, this is a perfect opportunity to show your leadership skills. Step up. Communicate with the officers if you can be in charge of the project. You can host workshops during lunch or after school where anyone in the school can come and participate. If you can, offer free snacks or host a movie night where you can engage with others while working on the blankets. This will show colleges about how you take initiative in things you are passionate about.

Hope this gave you some ideas
