Hi! I'm currently a freshman from Northern California and am looking for summer opportunities, but cannot find much. To preface, I'm currently interested in international affairs and law as well as sports management/business. My parents aren't willing to pay much for programs but want me to do something that will show up on college applications so I've been having trouble finding something that satisfies both of these conditions. This past school year, I've had a 4.0 GPA and am involved in a few clubs as well as playing varsity lacrosse, 120+ volunteer hours, and play piano, but I don't think I've really done anything to stand out and wanted to do a summer program or start something over the summer that will allow me to further pursue my interests and increase my profile.
Hi @samara! I'm also planning to pursue a career in law and government. I can't give you specific answers, because I don't live in Texas. However, here are some of my general tips, you can directly intern for politicians or work as a legislative assistant for a candidate you support. I typically use Indeed to find internships and jobs. (shorturl.at/jlCO7) Or I will go to a Politician or candidate's website and find opportunities there.
I hope this helps & Good luck finding an internship!
For an activity, you should try doing Model UN. As there are competitions around the world and some of them are free. It looks great on a resume and it is all about international relations. Some conferences are online and some are on college campuses so you can find the perfect fit. As for summer in particular you can do free internships through forage.com which is a great site. They have all sorts of internships that include business and sports management.
