If you speak a language that is not taught in American schools could it count toward your college application?
Answered

Me and my family know Malayalam and its not taught in American schools so is it better that I put it into my college application or should I leave it . I switched to Programming Class after I finished my two spanish credits in middle school so is it ok if I apply for a seal in Biliteracy in Malayalam.

I would say always put it. Diversity is huge and with language they typically see it as an asset for you to be able to cross barriers and connect with different groups of people. Regardless of it’s use in the USA, you are considered able to engage and connect with people whom only speak it. Anything that counts as a trait/ability/accomplishment you put! (I’ve never heard the opposite—maybe if it’s a made up language from game of thrones or something then leave that out. Lol)

I would say yes, especially if you are the first of your family to go to an American college. It can be attractive to colleges looking for more inclusivity and cultural diversity.
