I do classical dance (aka ballet) 4.15h a week, but the school I want to attend (uwc), says the more extracurriculars, the better. What should I get? A language? Another sport?
Sorry if its hard to understand, English isnt my first language.
You’re probably not going to like my answer, but honestly, do what YOU love. I read this book recently from a college admission officers perspective, and she said that she could see from a mile away if someone was doing extracurriculars to look cool and productive, or if they were doing them because they enjoyed them.
So, whenever someone asks me this question, I like to say, what makes you sing?! If I asked you a question about ballet, could you rant about the poses and the way you feel when you dance? If so, keep doing it. And the same thing goes for any other extracurriculars. Do you love speaking other languages? Do you enjoy basketball? Are you a mathematician, etc.? Tap into your talents and find out what feeds you. Then, go looking for internships and programs (at your school or not) that align with those interests.
(Also, your English was perfect, so no worries. If you hadn’t said anything I would have never known!)
Good luck with your journey!
I recommend reading this CollegeVine blog post for advice on choosing the best extracurriculars given your interests. Hope this helps!
Hi @Emmasophpi!
First what does the "UWC" here stand for?
Second, if you do Ballet 4.15 hours once a week and take lessons, it would be fantastic to write in college essays. I'm hoping for some dance-related extracurricular activities. For instance, if you were a member of or founded a school dance club. You should get involved in your school's theater. Alternatively, apply to a well-known, application-based summer program. Take part in local, state, and national dance competitions as well. Language, sports, and other extracurricular activities should be chosen based on your interests.
I hope this helps :)

Thanks for your advice, I actually think I'm going to take a language (probably Galician since I took it in school for some years and I loved it)
