Admissions Advice

Am I taking challenging enough courses?
Answered

My high school does not offer AP, IB, or advanced courses because it's a small school in a small town. So, I'm taking PSEO courses from a community college in the area. Next year, I'm also doing an internship with the local elementary school. Do you think 10 college courses in my whole high school career will look like I'm taking challenging enough courses? Will admissions counselors know that my school does not offer AP, IB, or advanced courses? I don't want it to look like I'm only taking easy classes.

Hey so it always depends on what College you are applying for. In your scenario if there is a way to let the admissions counselors know that your school doesn't offer those courses I would definitely inform them, because there is a high chance they don't know that about your school. 10 college courses is a lot, so you should be fine there and if you are taking in honors or advanced courses that will also make it look like you are taking challenging courses. Also, things like your internship and other extra curricular like that also help boost your application if you feel you want to improve it and make it look like you are working harder.
