Will I get into college?
Answered

hi, im a rising junior and my gpa is very bad with it being at a 2.95. I want to work really hard next year and after calculating if i get all A’s my next 2 semesters i will get a 3.5 gpa and i feel like that is still bad for college. It is freaking me out that junior year is the last year that counts towards you gpa for college admissions. Any advice or tips?

College vine puts me at ease by showing that i do have a pretty high chances of getting into decent colleges but is that accurate?

And even if i don’t make it to a 3.5 gpa will i have chances for college admission?

My dream colleges are Michigan state, penn state, Illinois state and university if Indiana.

Yes. You will get into college. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that everything will be okay. You may not get into your top choice, but there are plenty of good colleges that will accept students with your gpa. 3.5 is not bad at all, in some cases it is high enough to qualify for the National Honor Society. You can do this! I believe in you!

(Also, Illinois State has an 80% acceptance rate so you're gonna be fine.)

You definitely can improve your grade to get in your dream colleges you've stated above. Your first semester grades of senior year can count towards college admissions if you apply regular decision. And you don't necessarily need a 3.5 gpa, I would advised you keep it above a 3.0 though. GPA is also not the only factor for college admissions; test scores, extracurriculars, and essays is just as important.

CollegeVine's Chancing Engine is accurate with its approximations of your admissions chances. A 3.5 GPA can certainly get you into the state schools you are looking at, so long as the other parts of your profile are competitive.

To improve your odds, you should also explain any extenuating circumstances that lowered your GPA in the Additional Information section of your applications. Hope this helps!
