I understand it depends on what course you are taking and I want a data science and business major so I am wondering which is better for those degrees.
NYU is a better business school for all business majors. NYU's Stern school typically ranked in the top 5 undergraduate business schools sharing the space with UPenn, Cornell, WashU, Georgetown and CMU.
UMaryland would be a 3rd tier school compared to others. Some undergraduate business school rankings do not even include UMD in the top 100.
I would suggest looking at these schools which are all Top40 Business Schools as well if you want something on the Eastern Seaboard:
-Villanova
-NorthEastern
-Fordham (Gabelli)
-Boston University (Questron)
-Lehigh
-University of Pittsburgh
-Syracuse (Whitman)
-Rutgers
-Providence College
Good luck.
