Questioning about majors.
Answered

I don't know a lot about college and all the fancy stuff you need to apply for it, I just finished freshman year, and I'm looking at colleges, so I don't have to worry later. There are three subjects I want to major in speech and rhetorical, acting, and philosophy. I am kind of stuck on those three. I love doing all of them, but I'm not sure if I can succeed at all three. So my question is which major would be the most effective for my future I love all three the equally, but I can't decide.

I know I still have time to decide but I need a someone else point of view so that when I start Sophomore year I'm ready and have my heart set on a major so its easier for me down the road and can start studding for it on my free time.

Hello @Bella_M

You did not post it in the incorrect community. I've seen a lot of questions like yours in the past. I recently went through a similar struggle, and I'm also a freshman. I recommend that you consider what you want to be doing in ten years. Do you want to be an actor, radio/TV announcer, news host, journalist, public policymaker, philosopher, or something else? You must consider how much you value money, fulfillment, and happiness.

Now, I'd say it's too soon to commit to a major. Furthermore, because your interests are all in the humanities, you should take humanities courses over the next three years. As I have said many times before, if it came to the end of time, all you had to do was pick a path and walk down it. The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost delivers, We, as travelers on our own journey, must make difficult decisions with no one to guide us. Many of the life decisions we make will be the first and final ones we make. So, sometimes we just have to choose a path if they are equally laid out because life cannot be postponed. indefinitely.

Best Luck to you and I hope this information helps :)

From a fellow student's perspective, I really believe that it should be your heart that finds your major for you. As with other answers, you are in no hurry of finding a major; you have until senior year to decide, and even then you can still apply for college as an undecided major. The pros of your situation are that your three interests all seem to have some sort of overlap, so taking those fine arts classes could help you see which ones you enjoy more.

For my personal example, I grew up really loving chemistry, but I didn't know where to apply it. I wanted to either go into energy (nuclear fusion) or use my chemistry to create sustainable agriculture. While working on fusion seemed more lucrative to me, my Midwestern roots really spoke to me and I knew that my calling had to do with nature, and that's how I basically decided what I want to study in college.

I think whichever path you do end up deciding to go to, you'll end up doing great things in life, and as for now, enjoy the last few days of your freshman year :)
