What is the purpose of collegeboard's national recognition programs?
Answered

I got an email inviting me to apply. What is this and how do they select who is recognized? Does it help with college admissions?

The intent and purpose of CB's National recognition programs is to inform colleges who may be looking for Black, LatinX, Indigenous, or rural low income under-represented students to add to their mix of admits. They are not really about giving you an award as much as matching you up to colleges that are looking for students like you.

If you are a BIPOC or low-income/under-represented applicant, then I recommend that you leverage whatever means you have at your disposal to gain access to better colleges or colleges that have funding to provide you with better financial aid packages.

Good luck.
