What makes an application stand out?
Answered

What exactly would make an application stand out from the others. For example, I do have good grades and strong ACT/SAT, but to what extent do extracurriculars go?

Extracurricular activities are very important to the extent of good grades and test scores for your college application. It counts as 25% of the admission decisions. It shows College the depths of you rather than the black and white data of your GPA. You should be looking for extracurricular activities now that you are in 10th grade. You should read this complete guide on extraiculars on CollegeVine Blog

Extracurriculars can be very significant. A unique extracurricular can be THE difference in being accepted and rejected.

Extracurriculars matter only if they are sustained. Any extracurriculars you use in your application should demonstrate your resilience. With that said, keep in mind that COVID has played a major factor in extracurriculars, and admissions officers keep that in mind.
