Does anyone know about the RISE(Residential Intensive Summer Education) Program at Cal Poly Pomona?

I got an email that basically said I was given an invitation for the program. I looked into the website that gives an overview of the program. But I'm still wondering if I should give it a chance and apply. Also, would it be in any way beneficial for me in terms of putting it on my college application whether on the activities section or the additional section(would the program be considered "prestigious/competitive"). What's sorta funny is that I visited the campus before back in freshmen year and even now I don't have that much of an interest in the school, so would it be even worth it.

I also got invited to that because I'm a rising senior, however I did not attend because I took college courses at my local community college instead. I think it's a great opportunity to join because it shows you are productive over the summer and given they offer programs, you might find something you like. It also engages in the community and is to support those in the Black community, however you can be any race (I'm hispanic) and I think it'll be an enjoyable moment. I wouldn't say the program is prestigious because the minimum GPA is 2.5, and most of the things they ask for many students have completed such as organizations you're part of and any other extracurriculars. However, since it's a residential program, you will gain many skills including independence and leadership as stated in the website. Also, it will help you with the college process. So, in general, this is something you should put in your college application to represent how ready you are for the college world.

Please make sure it's not a scam! Many emails have been sent and given it's a residential program, it may be easy to get money. Hope this helps!
