I have not participated in common leadership activities such as Model UN or president of NHS or student council. And I am really confused about what I should write about. The only thing close to leadership that I have done is tutor math students through Mu Alpha Theta. But I am not sure how I can write about tutoring as a leadership experience? I need thoughts please and thank you!!
The way I see it and from what I’ve been told by college admissions people is that just about anything can be a leadership experience. I’d say tutoring math students would be a leadership position, since you are taking it upon yourself to schedule meetings, plan lessons, teach yourself the material if you don’t know it already, etc. You’re also the person the students look up to for math help. Most students have never been president of student council, NHS, etc., and colleges know that. Even being a babysitter or organizing a family event could be leadership experience if you frame it in the right way.
