I really want to major in biology in college but unfortunately, I got a 4 on my exam...which is good...but not great and could impact my chances (as at a lot of the schools I will be applying to bio is an impacted major). In my AP biology class, I had the highest grade (it was a very hard class at my school too!) But the week before the exam I got covid and while taking the exam I still had a lingering (pounding) headache and difficulty breathing which may have impacted my performance.
Should I submit my score?
A 4 on an AP Bio exam is not going to have any noticeable impact on your college decisions. The A you received in the class far outweighs the AP test score.
I might recommend using the Add'l information section of the common app to write in an explanation that you came down with COVID 19 during the AP test week and feel that may have hurt you ability to concentrate and get through the exams due to your failing health.
Good luck.
You are good, a 4 in a AP Exam specially in such a hard class like AP Bio is a great score, and of course if you can explain the covid part in your application it would really help your chances due to the crisis
I applied for biology majors for Fall 2022 without even taking AP Biology. Moreover, I did not take biology in my junior and senior year. I'm enrolled at Texas A&M for Biology in the Class of 2026. So, submitting a score of 4 on AP Biology will not harm your chances. Apart from admissions, AP plays a role in getting college credits and most universities will provide you credits for a score of 4. For further information on college credits through AP, refer https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/getting-credit-placement/search-policies.
Hope this helps.
Talk about this to your subject teacher because, in many colleges, you need to explain your drop in grades. Since you are majoring in bio, you need to submit the score. Your teacher must write in the LOR why you couldn't score a 5 on the exam.

I don't understand the point of involving the AP Bio teachers since @student234 had the highest grade in the class already. They already have perfectly legitimate reason which is that they came down with COVID 19 during the testing period. And they can explain away that themselves. I disagree with this tactic because the teacher already recognized this individual as their best student with grading.
