Study Halls

So every student in my high school gets a study hall unless they want an extra elective. I have always taken 7 classes a semester + 1 study hall. However, as juniors, we get 2 study halls as 1 one of them will usually be used up by college counseling. I am taking 3 AP classes + 1 extra AP test this year. But I would only be taking 6 classes the first semester. How would this effect my admissions into college?

A second study hall likely isn't going to ruin your chance with most colleges and universities. 3 AP classes is decent for class rigor, and study halls can speak to your awareness for balance in your schedule. Junior year is important for class performance and level, so if you have higher level classes, especially for those related to the major you plan on applying to (if you've decided that), I think you're probably in a good spot, but if you can comfortably do more, it definitely won't hurt.
