scared of going undecided?
Answered

i'm not sure what i wanna major in (deciding between nursing/psychology) so i've been planning on going undecided so i won't have to switch majors, but i'm worried that i'll be hurting my admissions chances by not picking a major. do colleges even care about whether you've picked your major already? aa i'm so stressed out about this stuff & my high school's guidance counselors don't have many resources or info </3

hi !

i am going through the same thing with being stuck between law/engineering/environmental science related majors. from all of the questioning i have done about this topic these are some tips people gave me:

- going to a school that can easily allow you to switch majors is a way you can be less worried since the school can provide equal opportunities in all fields of study

- putting down a major that aligns closely with your EC's since it will be in the ballpark of your interests and still boost your application

- there are specific resources like quizzes of naviance.com (which we use in our school) and other websites that might help like the quiz on ASA Futurescape !

all in all, it doesn't really matter what you put down since most people declare their majors in their third year of college. but if you are worried (like me D:) putting something that sticks with your EC narrative will help !!

good luck !!!!! ^^

The only consideration is that some nursing programs are direct admit. This means that you must apply for nursing as your major your freshman year. You would likely be able to change majors from psych to nursing at a direct admit nursing school.
