Can I raise my GPA from a 3.6 to a 3.7 in one school year?
Answered

Hi! I am a rising senior in high school who plans to attend a 4-year college after graduation. I am pretty content with my current weighted GPA (3.64285) because I believe I can generally get into most of the schools on my list.

The problem is a few of them offer merit scholarships and/or full rides for students with a 3.7+. I really want to try to go for them. Unfortunately, I’m expected to only have 2 honors classes (0.5x2) and 5 non-weighted classes this year so is it possible for me to raise my GPA that much ? Help?

Hi there! I think that if you have the right mindset for it you could definitely make it work. You'd only have to raise your GPA by around .6 points, so if you truly try hard and get good grades I think that you should be set. Also, you might want to check if those scholarships are going off of weighted GPAs or unweighted ones.

I think if the scholarships are based on Weighted GPAs of 3.7 you have a shot at getting there, but not if they are asking for Unweighted GPAS of 3.7. You didn't mention what your UWGPA is so I'm not sure how far away you are right now.

Good luck.
