What should I do in my junior year
Answered

My friend was wondering what she should do, she is going to be a junior this year and is planning on applying to U of M(twin cities) She is planning to take 3 Ap's this year, they will be her first Ap's since she was homeschooled previously and was wondering if she should take MORE than 3 Ap's since her school offers more, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

At a state school like Minnesota, taking 3 APs junior year is perfectly fine, provided you can handle the rigor. I'm not sure exactly which APs these are, so I can't provide exact information on how hard the classes will be. However, because AP is different from homeschool, I wouldn't recommend taking too much either. Therefore, I would advise taking 3 APs and getting as close to a perfect GPA as possible, opening up more opportunities senior year.

Hi,

I took three AP's my junior year and it worked out well for me. However, I had also taken AP classes prior to junior year, so I was very familiar with the AP program. Although having a lot of AP classes might be impressive to colleges, I would not recommend taking more than three if she has not taken AP's before. It would be better for her to take those three and excel in them than take more and potentially struggle with the heavy course load.
