i’m a rising sophomore and i got an email to university of chicago’s fall 2022 open house tour in october. how am i suppose to know if it’s real or a spam?
Hi @ssy0305,
Thanks for your question. The best way to double-check whether this is real or not is to look it up on UChicago's website. That's what I did.
https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/visit/fall-open-houses
There are 2 dates for the Fall Open House Tour which are October 7th, and October 10th.

If those dates coincide with your invite, then you can RSVP or you can re-register for them online.

hmm thats tough I would say check who its from because it might just be a newsletter but honestly i dont think anyone would do a fake open house
We received the same email today and believe it is legitimately from U of Chicago.
You can always go to their website and register for the open house directly:
If I were to guess, it’s real. No one has anything to gain by inviting you to a fake open house. To be safe, go to University of Chicago’s official website and sign up for the open house there.
I have also received multiple emails like this. Mine have all been legit, but you have to do your research on the website to double check the authenticity because sadly many scams impersonate colleges.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
right right but you see, when you fill out the register form it ask for personal info but everything else matches with the official website, but it doesn’t matter now since i’m too far away and my mom does not want me to go by myself
