Class Rank: To report, or not to report? That is the question.

I’m conflicted on whether or not to report my class rank to the Ivy League schools I’m applying to. Any help is appreciated.

For context, I’m ranked 42/692 or within the top 6% of my graduating class. My high school is ranked the top non magnet public school in Texas on US News, but it’s no Exeter or Andover.

On the common app, I have the option to simply report that I’m in the top decile, or I could specify my specific rank. Is it worth specifying that I’m 42/692, or is this rank too weak?

6% is a great rank. Be proud, report it. If it was 11%, I'd probably not report it to Ivies.

I don't think the rank is weak. Out of 600 students, you're 42! That is great. You should report it. Don't look at it as a disadvantage either, be proud that you're in the top 6 percent. If you have confidence in numbers, they will too.
