I am taking these classes in my senior year: AP Calc ab, academic English, academic Gov, Intro to CS, and a Cisco course worth 3 DE credits. I feel like these are not good enough classes for me to get accepted to colleges like Purdue, UMD, or VT. My current weighted gpa is 4.18 and I believe my unweighted gpa is around 3.93. I took 3 AP classes, 1 honor, and 2 academic in my junior year. Are my classes good enough for senior year or should I take harder classes. Unfortunately, I can only change my English class out of all of my classes. I can change my academic English to AP lit. Do you guys recommend me to change my English class or keep it the same? Do you guys think my classes are good enough for senior year or no? Thanks
HI @Homan710,
Since you are in your senior year, you have limited options for changing your courses. I'm not sure if you've taken the SAT or ACT yet, but you have a good GPA for Top 50. Assuming you got or will get an average SAT or ACT score, one of your weaknesses is that you have few APs and Honors. If your school provides few AP or Honors options, colleges will consider this and make sure their decisions are fair in comparison to a student from a more resourced school. If that is not the case, it will damage you in comparison to a student with comparable resources who has more APs and Honors. So I can't tell you whether your classes are adequate for senior year because it is dependent on the other factors mentioned above; you can weigh in by yourself.
However, regardless of the reason you have 3 APs and 1 honor. I would advise you to take AP lit because having more APs would result in a higher admission chance if you get an average score on the AP exam. Also, most colleges do take them as college credit if you get a 5 or 4 if you are pursuing a major that's related to english.
Best Luck

Hello @Thinker
Just to clarify my situation, I took 3 APs and 2 honor classes junior year, 2 honors in sophomore year, and 1 honor in freshman year. For senior year though, it's different. I am taking a Cisco course at academies of Loudoun. It counts as 3 credits and takes up a school day. It is also a DE course (same thing as an AP). Cause of the Cisco class, I can only pick 4 classes. I picked AP Calc, AP Gov, Academic English, and intro to CS. ( 1/3 )
