peer-to-peer essay review?
Answered

Hi! This is more of a college-vine-specific question than an actual college application question. If this is the wrong place to post this, let me know and I'll redirect :)

I posted two essays for peer review and they both received comments that were only one sentence long. All of the highlighted remarks just read "Good," "Better," or even "Waw" (??) I left a review accordingly and flagged it as intentionally unhelpful, but I was just wondering if there was any way to have my essay reviewed again. I used up all my karma on posting those essays, only to receive unhelpful comments. Or if there are any other peer-essay review sources that you would recommend :)

Thanks!

Sorry to hear that!

The community guidelines prevent people from asking for or sharing personal info like email, otherwise I (or anyone else for that matter) could've directly helped. Even if you somehow uploaded the essays again on the peer essay review, the system randomly pairs up reviewers with essays, so you can't be sure who reviews your essay. However, here are some online sites for free peer essay review.

https://www.fairopportunityproject.org/essay-review-form (This one has specific requirements)

If you're concerned about grammatical stuff, I recommend using Grammarly. Despite fewer features than the Premium, the free version should work well for the purpose.

Hope this helps!

OH MY GOSH! I am so sorry that this has been your experience on the peer essay review platform so far! That's awful. So many people just do it for karma, and that's really unfair. I do review up to 10 essays a day, and as a librarian, I do give accurate and helpful feedback. I refuse to charge for this, however, so I can't show up as a specified reviewer. I would try again, and hopefully, I or someone who actually cares about the structural and grammatical state of your essays will review it.

Again, so sorry that you've had to deal with this, Sarah.

Wish I could do more.
