Admissions Advice

What are some things you look for in new coming students?
Answered

As a Junior at Central High School in San Angelo, Tx I look forward to exploring my options for college, and I'm very interested in what College offers! As a Christian, I want to attend a school that has a church nearby or on campus. I am very excited to join school organizations and participate in school activities.

Hi @Daya_Biggs129091

Are you addressing this question to Colleges?

I'm asking because this is a Q & A for high school students who need help with their college applications. This is not run by colleges or a specific college.

Here is a list of Christian Colleges in Texas.

Hopefully, some of them will interest you and you can write them for more information or connect with them on social media.

Hi @Daya_Biggs129091!

Are you asking for a college's perspective? If so, I'd recommend this article: https://blog.collegevine.com/what-do-colleges-look-for-in-applicants/

In short, colleges are looking for:

—Students who will succeed academically at their school

—Students who are a good fit for their institution (culturally, academically, etc)

—Students who have demonstrated the passion and achievement indicative of future success

That last part is very important and where your extracurriculars will come in. In short, colleges want students who will succeed as alumni in their respective fields. Your grades, course choices, and extracurriculars should all demonstrate that you're committed to your fields of study in a way that will carry on throughout your career.

For example, if you want to be a doctor, it'll help to have some research or shadowing experience to demonstrate that commitment. And for more examples on extracurricular tiers, check out this blog: https://blog.collegevine.com/breaking-down-the-4-tiers-of-extracurricular-activities/

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
