I recently got a few of my college apps back and was deferred from my first-choices. How can I make my additional information section stronger to hopefully get accepted during regular decisions. (the colleges are UGA and Clemson if that's helpful). I can't take the SAT so are there any other ways?
edit: both applications allow "additional materials" so I will paste the instructions for each below:
Clemson:
Please use this space to provide us with any updates you would like us to consider when reviewing your application for Regular Decision.
Please remember you can upload a resume, personal statement, or letter of recommendation through your Applicant Portal in the upload materials section at any time.
UGA:
Please use this space to provide us with any updates you would like for us to consider when reviewing your application. Common updates include new awards, activities, leadership roles, or self-reported grades earned during the first term of your senior year.
Since both UGA and Clemson allow applicants to submit additional information after being deferred, I recommend doing so. This CollegeVine blog post has some tips on what information you should write in your letter of continued interest. Hope this helps!
Hi @auppu!
Do your deferral letters mention anything about further steps? Some colleges will explicitly advise against submitting any additional material. If UGA and Clemson have done that, it would be a very bad idea to add anything to your applications.
It would be helpful if you could tell what the instructions are. An example of a specific instruction is:"Do not submit any additional recommendation letters." Be sure you know what they want/do not want.
Hope this helps!
