What tier is winning the WAICY competition as part of a group?
Answered

I am part of a club called FishNet AI, where we monitor fish population and identify fish through machine learning. We recently entered and won the WAICY competition, an international competition for AI in youth. It has about 300 teams competing. I was wondering what tier this would be in. I think this is a very cool accomplishment, but collegevine seems to not think so highly of group accomplishments and prefers individual. Is this how colleges think as well?

Group accomplishments are often just as impressive to colleges as individual accomplishments, if not more! CollegeVine's tier pyramid is meant to apply to group activities as well - just replace "I" with "we" in the tier descriptions.

Based on the information you have shared, I would rank winning the WAICY competition as a Tier 1a achievement. Hope this helps!
