Course Load

So I’m a junior right now and this weekend I’ve been thinking about courses for next year. My freshman year I took 1 AP and 4 honors, sophomore I took 2 Ap and 3 honors. My junior year this year Im taking 3 AP and 4 honors courses l. Next year I was gonna take 2 AP and 3 honors and have 3 free periods but I’m wondering if this will look bad like I just took easy way for senior year. Does this look bad or is it ok because my school offers lots of honors and 18 AP classes and I have take. 8 of them

Hi @Swayam_Jain17!

Any reason for lowering your coursework in your senior year? Do you have other commitments that don't allow you to keep up?

@Anonymous123 yeah I got other commitments it’s been really hard this ahead but I also just want to enjoy senior year so I stepped it down a little bit

Having other time commitments can attenuate the negative impact of less rigorous coursework, but make sure they're significant enough to explain their impact on your academics. It's natural to not want to spend time just studying (that's what extracurriculars are for). However, there will be repercussions if you choose to apply to a top college and don't get in just because you chose to enjoy senior year.

8 AP classes in high school is a good amount, but it's subjective to what you have available. You had 18 to choose from. If convenient, try to change classes to AP from honors. Hope this helps!

@Anonymous123 I may try it’s just I feel like I can’t really handle taking more than 3 that’s why I’m like lot sure what to do I regret only taking 1 my freshman year I feel like I could have taken more but but I also took lots of honors so I’m not sure. I’m involved in 9 EC’s rn. 2 of them I’ve won state competitions. I have a leadership role. I have a sport where I have leadership.
