Today Wash U announced that 700 HS students including 75 Questbridge matches were admitted from around 2000 applications. Last year they had about 1785.
That number seems quite high compared to past years. Out of genuine curiosity, what could explain this jump?
It's not high because WashU has 2 rounds of ED, ED1 and ED2. ED1 is typically like 35% and ED is like 15%. something like that. Last year they accepted a total of 1098 of the 3754 students who applied for early decision rounds. So that was an average of 29% so it's entirely possible that this year it will be lower like 26-27% overall in ED rounds.
I see. Was not aware that washu also had an ED2. Thanks for the reply!
Your data (1098 of 3754 or 29%) is correct, but it is for the Class of 2025. For the Class of 2026 (no CDS yet), their school newspaper reported a 27% overall ED (ED1 + ED2) acceptance rate. Number of ED apps was probably just shy of 4000 for Class of 2026.
