Should I submit my 1360 SAT Score? & What should I do if I don't have outstanding extracurriculars
Answered

I recently got a 1360 (700 in math and 660 in reading) on my SAT, and I'm thinking of applying to the following schools: University of Washington (Seattle), UIUC, Rose-Hulman, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Cornell, and Georgia Institute of Technology. Should I submit my SAT score to any of them or should I not, since it'll hurt me more than help?

Also, I don't have any outstanding extracurriculars (since my family owns a restaurant and I always go there after school to help out), so I only have normal hobbies (such as playing piano, coding min-projects, and the such), so I was wondering if I could get any tips to make up for that?

Thank you.

Hi @Zirins!

For sure, don't submit the score to Cornell and Vanderbilt. The UCs are test-blind for 2023 and 2024, which means that even if submitted, your SAT score won't be used for admissions purposes. You don't have an option for Georgia Tech; you have to submit your score.

For the University of Washington, UIUC, and Rose-Hulman, it's not that straightforward. When you fill out your CollegeVine profile and use the chancing simulator, it will show you whether you have better chances of acceptance with or without the SAT. The chancing simulator takes into account factors other than your SAT score, so it will give you a good estimate.

Hope this helps!
