If you're looking for numeric chances of acceptance, use CollegeVine's chancing simulator.
Hi @Mahima!
Your GPA is something that keeps your hopes alive. Since USF isn't test-optional, there's no choice but to submit the score. Unless you're an underrepresented minority, USF is a target/hard target for you. USF considers test scores to be very important, so a 17 won't be very impressive. Are you planning to apply by a priority deadline or the final deadline? If you're going to apply before the March 1 deadline, try retaking the ACT.
Since your ACT score is contradictory to your GPA, if you faced any circumstances that led to a low ACT score, you can explain those on your application. Your essays will be crucial, so put in your best efforts.
Hope this helps!
I think it would be a reach for you to get into USF with a 17 on ACT as their average according to their website is with a range of 26-31. Also, their GPA average is around your range with the average 4.0-4.5. So, you are below the average applicant but if you have stellar extracurriculars and write an awesome college essay it could possibly make up for your low ACT score. If you took more than one ACT, they also use super scoring so they'll take your best ACT or if you took the SAT as well and it's better you can just submit that. Good luck with your USF application!
Hope this helps!

I think what's really important is course rigor, if you have taken hard classes; for example, AP IB or AICE- then it could increase your chances of being admitted. However, you should also take into consideration taking BOTH the SAT and ACT if you haven't done so. I performed highly on the SAT, but not as high on the ACT. Good luck!
