Admissions Advice

Is it worth my time to start a non-profit organization regarding my personal interests?

I am interested in starting a non-profit but do admission officers actually look at this? How much will it affect it? Also, is a big time commitment for a non-profit worth it or should I focus on prepping for standardized tests?

One important thing to keep in mind is that colleges want to see impact. Starting a non-profit can be less efficient than getting heavily involved in existing NGOs that serve the same purpose, and because they already have more resources than if you started from scratch, you can achieve more working with them. Unless your non-profit can match that, then you're better off devoting that time to another organization that fits the cause you care for, and saving time to prepare for standardized tests.
