How does participating in undergraduate research help a student in their future career, in my case, it is aerospace engineering. I have tried to search for this on the internet but have found very generic responses regarding undergraduate research. Could you provide me with some more specific answers (career/field-related if possible)? Any other resources that you could provide would be beneficial as well! Thanks!
Hi @Moksh191!
I don't understand what you mean by "specific" answers because undergraduate research has the same benefits irrespective of the field. Whether your research is in neuroscience or aerospace engineering, the benefits will be gaining experience working in a team to solve real-world problems, professional networking, gaining field-related technical skills (in your case, you'll be learning about modern technology pertaining to aerospace engineering), and the opportunity to be a part of a published research paper. You can also get recommendation letters from the PI, although I wouldn't recommend research if that's the only motivation to do so. Engaging in research also helps you delve deeper into your interests. From a career point of view, research increases your marketability. Sorry if this isn't what you were looking for, but I don't think there's any specific advantage that applies to aerospace engineering but not others and vice versa.
Hope this helps!
