Can I edit my essay after sending my application?
Answered

If I sent my essay to one college, can I change something before sending to another college?

Ex: I sent my application to Barnard, but I found a mistake in my personal essay and I want to correct it so I can send it to the rest of my colleges, can I do that?

Hi @JuliaSalgado!

Yes, you can edit any part of your application for the rest of your colleges. The application you've already submitted won't change.

Hope this helps!

Once you click the submit button for a particular college, you do not have the editing capability to edit your essays or anything else for that submitted college. So you can't edit your Barnard after you have submitted the application to Barnard. You can see how this would be a nightmare for the schools. Imagine if everyone did this and XYZ college got 60,000 rolling edits. That means the first reader would read one version of the application and the second reader might get another version of the application, and by the time it went to the committee, a 3rd or 4th version might appear. Also, this creates a loophole for applicants who want to take an add'l SAT or ACT or report better honors, awards, scholarships, etc. Also, it makes the appeal process more complicated because someone could say, BTW I have an SAT score of 1550, not 1350 SAT, etc. So in fairness to every applicant, the deadline is the deadline. Good luck with your other applications.
