What STEM honors should be put on the Caltech application?
Answered

Caltech has a section to list your STEM honors, with the prompt:

Some Caltech applicants engage in STEM competitions locally, nationally, and internationally (such as AIME, Science Olympiad, International Science Olympiads.) If you have received any STEM honors or awards, list them here (and scores, if applicable).

I have one olympiad bronze medal to report, but I have some 'lesser' STEM competitions and I don't know if they're good enough to include. They are:

4th place in a local hackathon sponsored by Microsoft

Honorable mentions in a local game development competition

1st place in a regional STEM fair

Which, if any, should I keep in the section? I don't want to leave something out if it will help me, but I also don't want to list some honors that aren't high-level enough for Caltech.

Hi @safaryi!

The prompt does include "locally." As long as something fits the prompt, you shouldn't be worrying about whether it's high-level enough for CalTech or not. Providing more information about yourself will give the admissions officers a better idea about you and will enable them to take a well-informed decision.

Hope this helps!
