How come College Vine lists The University of Tennessee as a safety for me when my SAT scores are super low but my GPA and rigor of classes are high? The program was correct so far as I have been accepted to the schools that were listed as safeties for me so far (still waiting on a few), but I feel like they were safeties because I applied Test-Optional. UT Knoxville is no longer test optional so I don't see how I will still be accepted.
Thanks. I've taken it multiple times and I'm a senior.
Since college admissions is holistic, your GPA, class rigor, and other application components will compensate for your SAT scores. UT Knoxville's SAT score standards will also be lower than they are at test-optional schools, where only the highest scoring applicants submit a test score.
The chancing engine may be optimistic about your case, and UT Knoxville may be more of a target school because of your SAT score. All in all, your acceptance is certainly a possibility.
Hope this helps!

You can always take the SAT again. I would suggest studying and retaking it. It’s a great thing that you have high, GPA and rigorous classes. If the college doesn’t require the SAT, they might even not take it into consideration. Remember, you can always retake it and your GPA is a lot harder to get up. So you’re off to a great start. I’m not sure what grade you’re in but just study a little more and retake it
