I checked my chances on getting into my dream school and they said that my course load is below average. What should I do?
Hi @CouchPotato-_-!
If your high school provides AP/IB classes and you haven't taken any, you'll have to rely heavily on your extracurriculars to get into your dream school. Assuming it's a T20, you'll need to be a recruited athlete or child of a donor to make a big difference in your chances. Even then, there's no certainty.
If you have the opportunity to take rigorous classes, do so.
Hope this helps!
If your school does not offer AP/IB classes, you will not be penalized for it. What colleges want to see is that you take the most rigorous course load offered by your high school. Taking all honors would satisfy this requirement if that was the most rigorous class level at your school.
If your school does offer AP/IB classes, you will need to take them in order to gain admission if your dream school is a selective college. Hope this helps!
