Hello, I'm wondering if I should do the SAT to broaden the amount of colleges I have because nowadays even a transfer student needs an SAT. As with experience, I struggle a lot in higher level math, therefore I haven't taken the SAT yet. If I take it and do poorly, do I always have the choice of not sending it?
Note: I get accommodations such as extra time, use of a calculator and memory aids as I have a documented disability.
The use of a calculator isn't an accomodation on the SAT, what can I do?
Hi @lemonspice!
There is no higher-level math on the SAT. It is a test designed for high school students, so the test-makers don't expect you to know multivariable calculus or something like that. These days, not even high school applicants are required to submit the SAT/ACT by many colleges. I don't think it'll be required for transfers at the majority of the places. You can give the SAT and then choose whether you want to send your score or not. It'll cost $12/score send if you choose to submit after getting your score.
Hope this helps!
Hi, I hope all is well!! I do recommend taking the SAT. Although a lot of school don't require it, sending in a SAT score will enhance your application. I would start studying early just so you're not freaking out when the date for the test comes closer. Studying with Youtube videos and workbooks have helped me significantly :)
Personally, I would take it. I know a lot of schools don't require you to submit it so you wouldn't need to. However, for the schools that require it, you might surprise yourself with the score. The SAT is mainly Algebra and Geometry so don't worry about Calculus lol. So yes; most of the time you will have a choice, however, it depends on which school.
Ya, you have the choice of applying to colleges test optional.
