Will colleges accept my English?

I am currently a Junior in Tennessee just finishing AP Lit. I am able to because I took freshman english in 8th grade and it is included on my high-school transcript. Will colleges like the University of California system accept that freshman english or make me take some random english elective my senior year?

The UC colleges and all others will not accept your 8th grade English class for credit, since they only consider high school classes in the admissions process. They will want you to take a random elective. Hope this helps!

It was a high school class that I got a credit on my transcript for it was just in my 8th grade year

@Jeffrey5 Because you got credit for the class and it was included on your transcript, colleges will certainly see it as an impressive accomplishment and a sign that you have been an intellectually curious student from an early age. However, it may not count for the 4-year English credit requirement. I second talking to your counselor about this - if students in the past who did not take any English past AP Lit have gotten accepted into the schools you want to go to, you could do the same

I'm currently in the same situation took English 1 in 8th grade currently in 10th grade in AP Lang & Comp, I've emailed several admission counselors at several universities across Texas and several states abroad, they've all responded with the same answer, they do accept the credit.

If the course shows up on your high school transcript, then I'm pretty sure it counts as an english credit, so colleges will accept that. I suggest discussing this with your counselor or emailing the University itself to make sure.

They will accept it as long as you receiving a passing grade in the AP Exam. If you decide not to take it, you will have to take English again in college.

Sorry, I meant will they accept the english from 8th grade as one of my four years of english

Colleges will only accept AP Credits from HighSchool if you don’t want to take it in college.

No, like colleges require you to take 4 years of english, does the freshman english class I took in 8th grade count as one of those 4 years
