I won't be attending college in the fall, as I am 16 compared to my peers who graduate with me at 18, and I find being around people who aren't my age unsettling. I want to change this by taking 2 gap years, and I have the ability to do so with my age. Most people my age are currently sophomores in high school, while I am a senior in high school. I know for a fact that I am taking a gap year, and I have not applied to any colleges at all because of this. I do have my gap year tremendously planned out, spanning from helping communities in my parent's home country of Poland, to creating a marketing business and helping real estate agents sell homes.
A couple of questions I hope to be answered by all of you helpful people:
I'm certainly scared that applying after a gap year can have set backs, even with tremendous accomplishments during that year. Is this true? How about two gap years?
Is it possible to take two gap years without punishing my admissions chances to top colleges, Ivy leagues? I certainly prefer taking two gap years.
Thank you for your help if you do, it is greatly appreciated.
Two gap years will not set you back if you make tremendous accomplishments. Your gap years will only help you in the admissions process for Ivy Leagues or any other college, since colleges prefer to accept applicants who are at least 17. Exceptional younger applicants can gain admission, but colleges hesitate because of their age gap. Instead, you will come out of your gap years as a more mature applicant with a story that will stand out. Hope this helps!
