Foreign languages for getting into top schools.
Answered

Harvard recommends a minimum of 4 years in a foreign language,

I am fluent in English and Tamil. Tamil is my mother tongue and I learned English in school from 3 years old. Does these count as a foreign language, or do I have to take another language? In which case, will it still be ok if I take them outside instead?

Harvard doesn't require 4 years of foreign language for admission its only recommended , please don't spread false information it can cause some to have doubts about applying. Diction is key when positing questions on this platform because others use if as reference when looking for advice.

Hi @heema!

Tamil can count as a foreign language, but English cannot. However, you should have 4 years of Tamil.
