Hello!!
Me again. I know that a lot of top colleges kind of have an "unwritten formula" for letters of rec that's as follows: one from your counselor, one from a STEM teacher, and one from a humanities teacher.
However, I have great relationships with both my principal and superintendent and they've both mentioned they'd write a letter of rec for me. How would this be received? Would it be taken seriously or even work? I'm not sure because somehow I feel like it wouldn't have the same effect on top colleges, but let me know what you think! <3
It really depends on the school, and you may want to check with the admissions office of the schools you're applying to and get their feedback. I know I worked in an admissions office where we had "guidelines" but they were mainly used to help applicants with who would provide well-rounded recommendations (since admissions offices really just want to know more about who you are as a student and your likelihood to succeed in the program from a different perspective), but we accepted any professional references.
From this lens, since this is someone who knows you well and can speak about you as a student and professional it would be a great person to write a letter.
Some applications and schools also allow you to submit optional additional letters which would also be a great place for this letter.
