If you are interested in becoming an oceanographer, it is recommended to take a combination of science and math courses in high school. Here are some suggested classes that can help you build a strong foundation for a career in oceanography:

Biology: This course will introduce you to the basics of life science and give you a good understanding of marine ecosystems and biodiversity.

Chemistry: This class will teach you about the properties of matter and chemical reactions. Understanding chemistry is essential for studying ocean chemistry and marine geochemistry.

Physics: This course will help you understand the physical properties of the ocean, including waves, tides, and currents.

Earth Science: This class covers topics such as geology, meteorology, and oceanography, and provides a good introduction to the earth's physical systems.

Mathematics: Math is essential for any scientific career, including oceanography. You should take courses in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, as well as calculus if it is available.

In addition to these core classes, it is also helpful to take elective courses that relate to oceanography. For example, courses in environmental science, marine biology, or geology can all provide valuable background knowledge. Finally, if your school offers any opportunities to participate in science fairs, science clubs, or research projects, you should take advantage of them to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills.

Hope this helps!
