I just received news that I might be a volunteer "community" writer for my city's biggest newspaper. I looked online and its among the top 50 nationwide (America).
What tier would this be? I'm asking since I'm not technically getting paid for the position, but nonetheless still a writer for them, whose articles will be posted on their website.
The activity best aligns with "employment". Find the one that lists unpaid internships and medium or large business. It should be tier 2a. It wouldn't be tier 3a, because from what you've listed in the question, it's the city's biggest newspaper so it's highly highly likely that it's not a small business. Technically, this can count as an internship because you're not getting paid for it and this probably aligns with your interests
Hope this helps
To keep this community safe and supportive:
But in the writing category, it specifies these sort of situations but kinda unclearly by just saying "you wrote for a big newspaper." That's why I wanted to clarify if this could be considered as that, or if this would just be considered volunteering. So, if that bad explanation makes sense, I don't think It would best suit employment.
